Conscious Transitions

As we move from the heat of the summer, into fall,  we still feel the heat that has touched our core, yet we sense an energetic change.

While this practice will contain some vigorous and energizing

movement early on,  the focus over all will be about slowing down,

especially

mentally,  and moving inward, while paying attention to how we move outwardly.

The importance of slowing down, is to make it possible to go inward, and penetrate the deeper layers of the body and mind, which provides an opportunity to release old  limited views  and experiences from the past, thus creating space for deep restoration

Spiral movement via twisting  and binding, will bring space into the spinal column, and between each vertebra,  which will allow the ribcage to expand,  drawing more prana (energy and breath)

for total rejuvenation.    Finding center with twists and binding,

which will bring new freedom to all of the joints,  will help to bring clarity on many levels.

Later in the practice,  deep folds will bring you inward, for deeper contemplation, breath work, and meditation.

What is Kundalini Yoga?

The word "Kundalini" means awareness. In yoga tradition, Kundalini is the latent spirtual energy within every person and can be awakened by the practice of yoga.

What to Expect in a Kundalini Class

A Kundalini class begins with a short chant followed by a warm-up to stretch the spine and improve flexibility. Kriyas, (a sequence of poses) focuses on a specific area of the body combined with the breath that intensifies the effects of the poses. The purpose is to free energy in the lower body and allow it to move upwards. The teacher typically does not make manual adjustments since it is so accessible to all.

Benefits of Kundalini Yoga

Strengthens the nervous system

Blances emotions

Increases energy level

Brings clarity to the mind

Reduces stree

Increases lung capacity
